Google,
the world’s leading search engine turns 14 today and in keeping with
tradition, there’s a new doodle on the site to celebrate the happy
event.
The
Doodle shows a a chocolate cake with Google written on it. On top of
the cake are 14 fluttering candles, that soon blow out. The candles then
rearrange to form the number 14.

Google
founders, Larry Page and Sergey Brin, built the search engine in 1996.
Although, the company had filed for incorporation on 7 September, 1998,
the official birthday is celebrated on 27 September. According to
Wired, Google shifted ‘the date to 27 in recent times since it’s based
on whenever people want to eat cake.’
The
search engine has of course changed drastically in the past one year
with the addition of Knowledge Graphs, birthday reminders, and of course
search results from Google’s social network Google Plus.
